This razor is also popular and is even called different names like the cut throat razor due to the fact that the razor itself can be easily used to kill a person by cutting the throat. It is also known as the open razor due to the fact that it requires to be opened before it can be used. However, this razor requires extreme caution and skill. One wrong move especially when shaving the parts of the throat, could lead to death. Though they may be very popular during their time, but their popularity ended with the invention of the safety razor which had taken over the market.

Truly the straight razor had taken its place in history as one of the best types of razor there are. Though they are now overshadowed by the safety razors, they can still be found in several barber shops where they are still used. They are also preferred by some people who prefer to shave their facial hair through the old as well as traditional ways. But still they still reigned for a long period of time ranging from the 18th century up to the very first half of the 20th century. Truly this razor will be remembered as the thing that made shaving easier.
